Our gospel today begins with Jesus looking to get away. He had just spent a lot of time teaching and healing folks all across his home turf, and after making quite a name for himself in the process, he wants to get away to a place where no one knew him. Jesus wants to get away because rest, or sabbath, is a good and holy thing in church-speak.
